Ingenuity & Pandemonium 004

In keeping with the theme of Ingenuity & Pandemonium…you get to see our worst and our best.

This is a time for all of us in the trenches each week to step up & help everyone else learn from our mistakes, our greatest moments and our “hide it from the fire marshall” subtleties.

So, this week, we learned a valuable lesson on the “it feels & seems” dilemma.

If you’re anything like us, you probably get a lot of people who mention to you…in the middle of service…that it feels like the lights are too low in the auditorium. Or that the hazer seems to be billowing smoke like a stack of flaming steel belted radials.

In the heat of the actual service…we all feel things. We feel nervous. We feel like we’re on the verge of messing things up. It seems like things went well. But did they? Are they really they way they seem?

So we’re in the process of implementing a checklist of stats & figures pre-service at rehearsals and pre-service production meetings. It’s at these quick 5 minute meetings, we can re-assure everyone involved in the service…that the hazer is set to exactly what it should. The house lights are exactly at the right levels. The subs are perfectly tweaked to specific db limits.

No longer will our “feelings” or “emotions” have us running around during service.

But this is just the beginning of the process. I could be writing another I & P here in a week telling you it all fell apart. We’re flexible to change it if needed…but the only way we learn is from our mistakes.

Here’s who’s posting an Ingenuity & Pandemonium of their own. Get on board with us!

Josh Ratcliffe – Video Countdowns
Nathan Pruzaniec – $14 Steadicam
Andy Denen – Canvases Onstage
The Monobox – Downtempo
dhfriss – Saturday Night iMac Mayhem
